How strict is the timed entry, really?
Completely strict. The gallery admits visitors in fixed two-hour slots, everyone exits when the slot ends, and a missed entry cannot be moved or refunded by the museum. Arrive fifteen minutes early: security and the mandatory cloakroom take time, and every minute spent in the queue is subtracted from your two hours.
Why is the group capped at ten guests?
Partly because the gallery itself caps visitor numbers, and partly because of how the rooms sound. These are intimate spaces built for a cardinal's guests, not for crowds with headsets. With ten people, your art historian speaks at a conversational volume and every question gets answered in front of the work itself.
Are the famous works guaranteed to be on display?
The core of the collection — the Bernini marbles, the Caravaggio room and Canova's Pauline Bonaparte — is permanent and on display year-round. Individual paintings do occasionally travel to major exhibitions abroad. If a significant loan affects the visit on your date, we tell you before the tour rather than at the door.
How long is the tour, and how much walking is involved?
This experience runs about 2 hours at an unhurried pace, with regular pauses so your guide can answer questions along the way. Expect a comfortable amount of walking, some of it on uneven historic ground, so wear sturdy, broken-in shoes. Allow a little extra time to reach the meeting point beforehand.

You will meet your guide at the gallery entrance, Piazzale Scipione Borghese 5. Please arrive about fifteen minutes early so the group can set off promptly at the booked time. The exact address and a contact number are confirmed in your booking email, and your guide will be holding an Eterno sign.
