What happens if the Basilica is closed for a religious ceremony?
St. Peter's is an active place of worship and can close without notice for Mass or papal events. These closures are rarely announced far in advance, and no operator is exempt from them. Contact us if this affects your date — we handle these on a case-by-case basis.
Is there a dress code?
Yes — shoulders and knees covered, no sleeveless tops, hats off indoors. It is strictly enforced at the security checkpoint, in every season, including August. A light scarf or wrap solves most cases; keep one in your bag and the checkpoint becomes a formality rather than a problem.
How long is the tour, and how much walking is involved?
This experience runs about 1 hour 30 min at an unhurried pace, with regular pauses so your guide can answer questions along the way. Expect a comfortable amount of walking, some of it on uneven historic ground, so wear sturdy, broken-in shoes. Allow a little extra time to reach the meeting point beforehand.

You will meet your guide at Via di Porta Angelica 73/75, beside St. Peter's Square. Please arrive about fifteen minutes early so the group can set off promptly at the booked time.
