Overview
Rome does its best work at dusk. The day-trippers drain toward their buses, the swallows come out over the rooftops, the fountains switch on, and travertine — the stone the city is built from — holds the last light longer than it has any right to. This two-hour walk is timed to that window: it begins at the Spanish Steps in late golden light and ends in Piazza Navona at full blue hour, when the baroque façades are lit and the squares belong to the city again. The route strings together the most celebrated places of the center — the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the piazza of the Pantheon, Piazza Navona — but at an hour when you can actually stand in front of them. Your guide is a licensed storyteller rather than a lecturer: the aqueduct politics behind the Trevi, why the Pantheon's dome still has no equal, what the rivalry between Bernini and Borromini left in the stones of Navona. There are no tickets and no interiors; the city itself is the exhibit. The walk covers about two and a half kilometres on flat cobblestones, unhurried, with time at every fountain and square for photographs — blue hour is the most forgiving light of the day, and the itinerary is built around it. With up to fifteen travellers, this is an easy first evening in Rome: it maps the center in your head, so every remaining day starts with a better sense of where things are.

There are no tickets on this tour — what am I paying for?
You are paying for the route, the timing and the stories. Every monument on this walk is seen from the outside, at the hour when it looks its best; a guide who knows exactly where to stand at dusk changes what you see. Few interiors in Rome compete with the city itself at this hour.
Is this a good tour for photography?
Blue hour is the most flattering light Rome offers: lit fountains, a deep blue sky and stone that still holds the warmth of the day. The itinerary allows for photo stops at every fountain and piazza, and your guide knows the angles the postcards use. A phone is enough; a tripod is not necessary.
Is the walk suitable for children or less mobile travellers?
Yes, within reason. The route is flat and unhurried, about two and a half kilometres on cobblestones with frequent stops, so most children and most travellers who walk comfortably will manage easily. The stones argue for comfortable shoes over heels. Strollers cope fine; wheelchairs manage too, though some stretches of paving are uneven.
How long is the tour, and how much walking is involved?
This experience runs about 2 hours at an unhurried pace, with regular pauses so your guide can answer questions along the way. Expect a comfortable amount of walking, some of it on uneven historic ground, so wear sturdy, broken-in shoes. Allow a little extra time to reach the meeting point beforehand.

You will meet your guide in Piazza di Spagna, at the base of the Spanish Steps. Please arrive about fifteen minutes early so the group can set off promptly at the booked time. The exact address and a contact number are confirmed in your booking email, and your guide will be holding an Eterno sign.
